Staying Safe: 4 Ways to Help Stop the Spread
Whether you're on a film set, at a public event, or simply going about your day, infection control is everyone's responsibility. These four evidence-based measures remain the most effective ways to reduce the transmission of respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19.
1. Wash Your Hands Frequently
Regular and thorough handwashing is one of the single most effective ways to prevent the spread of infection. Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds, particularly after touching shared surfaces, before eating, and after coughing or sneezing. When soap and water aren't available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol.
2. Wear a Mask When Required
Face masks help reduce the transmission of respiratory droplets — the primary way COVID-19 and similar viruses spread. Wear a well-fitted mask in indoor public spaces, crowded environments, and wherever required by current health guidelines in your state or territory.
3. Maintain Physical Distance
Keep at least 1.5 metres between yourself and others where possible, particularly in enclosed spaces. Avoid crowded venues and gatherings when community transmission is elevated. On production sets, work with your safety officer to implement distancing protocols appropriate to your environment.
4. Stay Home If You're Unwell
If you have any symptoms of illness — including fever, cough, sore throat, or fatigue — stay home and get tested. Do not attend work, a set, or a public event while symptomatic. Early isolation is one of the most powerful tools in preventing wider spread.
